Faux Friends,
Here’s this Tuesday’s addition to the “Mixed Up Files” record.
It’s a break-up song, but an “okay-with-the-breaking-up” type.1
I like this little version, janky as it is.2
The Faux Jean band actually went into Mike Vasquez’s Sweatbox Studios in Austin, TX in 2004 and recorded a solid version of this with legendary producer Tim Kerr.3
I gotta find that mixed up file!
I kind of ran out of time for writing words today and so will leave y’all instead with a cache of drawings I found in an old backpack this weekend.
I remain your humble servant,
OX&C,
Faux Jean
Here are the lyrics:
Always want to win
Take it on the chin
Gotta stand up to
Gotta stand your ground too
Hey
Where were you
Then when I needed you
Sad, you left me blue
Sad
Sad
What she said
What I said
Hey
Where were you
Then when I needed you
Sad
Sad
What she said
What I said
What I said
Come and your 45's
Come and your 45's
Come and your 45's
So
It's alright?
It's alright!
So right
So right
Still gotta gather up your records after the amicable split.
Farfisa panned hard right grinding it out.
That version remains unreleased.
