Dear Fast Faux Friends,

Have you ever had a good friend for a long time that you ended up kissing?

And then you’re like “Uh-oh!?”

Boy have I got a song for you!

Today’s addition to “The Mixed Up Files” album is called “Fast Friends.”

Here are the lyrics:

I never ever wanted to be anything other than your friend
Maybe you could explain to me
Help me understand what happened
I never ever wanted to be anything other than your friend
Then you opened up my eyes
to the consolation prize
Right there before that mirror
I knew I liked you a lot
And I'd never get bored
Fast friends
Fast friends
I never ever wanted to be anything other than your friend
Your....

This is the second demo I did of this song, I’m guessing from 2005 or so?

I remember Brian Markey, who helped me get into the Tyler Street warehouse pre-gentrification, listened to the first demo of this song and suggested I repeat the “I never ever wanted” line more in the song.

So I did that.

And then I end up stealing that line for another song entirely called “Dü the Watüsi,” which one could listen to here:

Friendship is key, crucial and clutch, my friends, try not to screw it up.

I remain your humble servant,

OX&C,

Faux Jean
