Dear Fauxs,
I am sorry to say that the tasks of a homemaker, one of which I technically am, took over today, and the newsletter must lean to the domestic.
But not without a little dish first.
Today’s song addition to the “Mixed Up Files” is called “Softcore Trope (Nummer Zwei),” and it goes like this:
I recorded this at the Tyler Street warehouse in Northeast Minneapolis in 2005. The Faux Jean band rehearsed and lived there, so I had access to a real drum kit at the time.
As I’ve often pointed out, I am not a drummer, but I love to try, and this is an example of that ignorant exhuberance.
I always called this one “no name inst,” but gave it a spicier Germanic twist for today. Please give it a listen.
I did get a moment to relax in the sun this a.m., but soon I was dealing with this1:
Making brines, making turkey stock, cleaning for the arrival of relatives, etc. Plus the kids are home from school for the week.
Now I need to clean the fridge to make room for the groceries my wife is bringing home and get the grill going to get burgers on for supper.
Insert grimace emoji here.
Happy Holidays &c.
I remain your humble servant,
OX&C,
FAUX JEAN
My wife did the actual splaying of the bird, I stuck it in a bag of brine.
Love the song!
Never apologize for the domestic twist... it made Martha Stewart a billionaire.
