February 19, 2007.
I must have been feeling fairly creative that day. (See journal entry below.)
A day off of work with a work party in the evening always improves the vibe, am I right?
Today’s song addition to the “Mixed Up Files” album series, a song which I’ve subsequently titled “Do You Want Me to Do the Thing That I said That I'd do?”—was recorded that day, while wearing pajamas apparently. (Listen in the player below.)
I came across this song, which had the working title “improv 2 19 007,” while trolling for something to share with you this week.
I gave it a listen and was like, “I have no recollection of creating this art.”1
But I liked that it ended with the lyric “Do you want me to do the thing that I said that I'd do?”—though I couldn’t make out all of the words, which were spontaneously uttered as I played guitar on this recording.
And then I went looking to my journal to see if I had made any notes on this spontaneous bop prosody. I hadn’t.
Which brings us to Hippo Tipping on the Nile.
I remain your humble servant,

Here is a dramatic reading of the journal entry from February 19, 2007:
And here are the lyrics for today’s song:
Do You Want Me to Do the Thing That I said That I'd do (Improv 2 19 2007)
I do love you
with all my heart
And I’ll touch you
in a special way
You can feel it
In our hearts
and
You can feel it
in our hearts
And I see it coming through
I love you very much
Look around you
braggadocious
and you’re feeling like an ocean
like a color black and blue
I need you
Do you need me
Like I need you
Do You Want Me to Do the Thing That I said That I'd do

This piece of paper fell out of the 2007 journal as I was looking for the Feb 19 entry:
This was recorded on a G4 iBook using the built-in mic on the laptop, with a single pass overdub of Farfisa, which I had set up in my living room at the time.
