My Faux Friends,
Do you even find yourself in a bathroom with really good natural reverb and you can’t resist the urge to sing?
This happened to me thirteen days ago and I recorded this acted-upon-urge and that sound file is today’s song addition to the “Mixed Up Files” album series. Please listen to it in the player below or watch the lyric video below that!
I was in a choir at Duluth East High School called the “A’Cappella Choir,” and today’s song goes back to those roots of singing without accompaniment, as if in a chapel, while actually in the bathroom of the restaurant where I work.
Today’s song is just one verse of the song “The Bridge to Nowhere,” which has gone through various iterations since it first began to haunt me over twenty years ago. Here is a version from 2021’s album “My First Foray into Fireworks and How I Failed:”
As if to say, while things may be digitally determined, nothing is set in stone.
Programming Note:
The Vernal Equinox is this Thursday, March 20, 2025, which means1 it is time to close the chapter on Volume Eleven of “From the Mixed Up Files of Mr. Matthew T. Schindler,” (FTMUFOMMTSV11 for short).
Next week I will be back with the beginning of Volume 12 and some new (and old) song ideas to share with y’all every Tuesday until they come and take me away.
I remain your humble servant,
OX&C,
Faux Jean
Here are the lyrics for today’s song:
I turned away from the world of today
As if to say that I was so right
I found a god and you know her name was LOVE
I found a god and her name was LOVE
But LOVE went away
LOVE couldn't stay
LOVE didn't even know from reason
LOVE ran aground
LOVE made a sound
LOVE made a sound like the scoff of a scoundrel
I turned away from the world of today
I ran away on the bridge to nowhere
I rannnnnnnnnn!
Here is a version of the song with no delay if you’re one of those complete-ists.
This evolving album series changes volumes with the changing of every season; solstice, equinox, what have you.
