Tuesday morning it’s not even 11 o’clock.
I’ve already done laundry, dishes, and gone to two separate grocery stores.
I dropped off the popcorn at school that we forgot to bring along in the morning for my kid’s movie watching day in film studies class.
Later on I have to walk the dog1, clean the bathrooms, facilitate the technology so my daughter can take an online violin lesson, drive my son to his guitar lesson, rush home so he can change clothes, and then go coach a baseball practice.
I also have high hopes of making pea soup, so there’s an easy meal when we get home from baseball.
To add insult to injury, I started a new audiobook yesterday, called “The Denial of Death.” (from 1973.)
All of this to say, I’m adding a relatively feel-good pop song to the mixed up files today and keeping this short.

I recorded this as an improvisation voice memo on September 28, 2022, soon after we moved to San Diego.
I tried playing this song on the guitar today, and it’s not terribly complicated, but I couldn’t quite remember what I did.
I share it here today, not as a denial of death, but as a crumb left behind by a songwriter, perhaps even in the hope that some other musician will cover this song at some point.
Epic diva quit Safari may become the eventual lyric.

Here are the LYRICS:
I told her not to wait
But she said she’s gonna wait,
she said she’s gonna wait anyway
Babe, I told ya, it’s gonna be late
Don’t wait, it’s really going to be super late
I told her not to wait
But she said she wants to wait
Said she’s going to wait anyway
Anyway, oh yeah
I told her not to wait
But she said she’s gonna wait,
I told her not to wait anyway
Baby, just go to bed
Epic Diva also neither maybe either
Wait
Wait
10:23 a.m. September 29?
Which I already done once.
Coincidentally, something recently inspired me to also read Denial of Death by Ernest Becker. Maybe it’s my impending sixtieth birthday. My copy came in the mail a couple weeks ago. Can’t wait to “dig in,” so to speak. Interested in hearing your take, and you have inspired me to crack it open later today.
