Last night, I went digging in a folder called “garage band back up 3 008” to find today’s song addition to the “Mixed Up Files.”
The working title for the song file was “new everybody dies,” which, frankly, does not cut it as a pop song title.
And so I gave it a face-lift and this version of the song, which had been fallow in that folder for a full fifteen years, has been renamed “You Might Be the Lucky One (Everybody Dies).”
Still, technically not a pop song, but it’s got BIG VOX and I had a blast laying down the bass track.
I need to play more BASS!
Give her a listen in the player below, don’t be a stranger, and watch the video above to learn how a little nuance can help you find consolation in the message this song delivers.

Here are the lyrics for today’s song
Hollywood makes the movies
where everybody dies
they make the movies for children
and no one ever cries,
they scream
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Except for the lucky one
You know who you are
You might be the lucky
Be the lucky one
they scream
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Except for the pretty girl
In her underwear
Except for maybe the dead gay son
But he's already there
he screamed
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Except for the lucky one
You know who you are
You might be the lucky
Be the lucky one
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Everybody dies!
Except for the lucky one
You know who you are
You might be the lucky
Be the lucky one
